Kinesio taping is a therapeutic and rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the bodies natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the bodies ranges of motion. This taping method alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopical lifting the skin.
The technology behind Kinesio tape is very interesting. Let's begin by looking at the basic function of kinesiology tape. This is not your ordinary athletic tape. Traditionally athletes or others with muscle injuries would tape a muscle or joint to restrict motion and prevent further injuries. Kinesio tape is applied on the top of an injured or strained area to stabilize it but care is always taken to ensure that a muscle or tendon is never encircled with the ring of tape as you move, the tape, skin, and connective tissue over the muscle or tendon also move pulling slightly away from The muscle and creating space for lymphatic fluid to flow around and cleans the inflamed tissue.
Electrotherapy ( EMS-IFC)
Our objective to use electrotherapy in our office is to:
- Reduce pain
- Decrease inflammation
- Decrease muscle spasm
- Increase tissue healing
- Muscle re-education
- Increase range of motion
Orthotics
Dr. Nikkhoo is offering custom orthotics for his patients in collaboration with a doctor of Podiatric Medicine.
Orthotics are the best way to help with issues related to the alignment of the foot.
Custom made orthotics will help to realign the bones with the foot and ankle and subsequently take the pressure of the part of the body such as lower back, hip and knees.
Besides aligning the structure of your foot, the foot orthotics also help to reduce muscle fatigue and helps in promoting the efficient performance of the foot muscles, therefore, enhancing overall performance all through the gate cycle.
